Terrell Owens interviews with GQ and NOT SpreeGoogs??!!
I read the February issue of GQ today and somewhere around page 58 (or online here) is an interview with Terrell Owens. Owens talked about how he has blown his entire career earnings and is now paying $40K in child support a month.
Avid readers of SpreeGoogs will remember that we made a little (ok, maybe a lot) fun of Terrell’s situation back in October. We also said that if Owens signed with an NFL team this season, we would write an apologetic post.
Well, Owens has signed with a team. But no apologies needed. It was with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League.
I had to do a little digging to find out a few things:
1. What the heck the Indoor Football League is. Apparently it is a league that was created in 2008 due to a merger between the Intense Football League and the United Indoor Football League. The result is an absolute powerhouse.
2. Where Allen is. Apparently it’s in Texas, just north of Dallas. Had I talked to VernonThorry about this post beforehand, he probably could saved me a Wikipedia search.
3. If Brett Favre was joining him. I couldn’t find anything to substantiate this theory, but I thought it might be some sort of PR stunt since he is the Wrangler commercial dude.
We will keep a close eye on the Owens situation in Allen and expect to have him reach out to us for an interview soon. Since SpreeGoogs is approaching GQ in terms of influence, you know.
