Contest #3 Results

As promised, here are the results to my NBA Draft contest. I’ve listed the entries straight from the comment replies to the contest post, bolding the correct picks and striking through the incorrect ones. Everyone got at least their first prediction right, but the draft got out of control early, so most people stayed stuck at 1 or 2 correct. To help you guys figure out how you did, I tallied up how many picks you were off by. For example, Ziman’s first miss was Marcus Morris, whom he predicted to go at 7. He actually went at 14, so I signified that with a (+7) afterwards. For a player drafted before the prediction the number is negative. For example, Ziman also predicted Jimmer to go 13, but he went 10, so a (-3). This number doesn’t always indicate how close you were, since the player typically is a match with a team, not the particular pick number, but at least it gives you an idea of how close you got.

Here are the results:

*Golden State did pick Klay Thompson, but they had pick #11, not pick #10. I hate to count this as a miss,  because I think the intent correct, but the players were tied to the drafts numbers, not teams.
**The numbers of the picks selected for this entry are a little bit obscure. I don’t know how clear I made these rules.

It looks like Sergio is the clear winner. Not only did he get 3 right, he almost got a fourth, and nailed picks way later than anyone else. Of his three correct picks, two of them were the two that would have been worth the most points if it came to a tie-breaker. Congratulations to Sergio (he got 3 of 6 picks, I got 3 of 30), I’ll be contacting him by email soon to mail the prizes.

What were the prizes exactly? Basketball cards. Three of them. From the ’90s. A Warriors Sprewell, a Warriors Gugliotta (incredibly hard to find, though that probably doesn’t make it more valuable), and a Todd McCulloch autographed card, that would be the prized piece in any card collection.

Congratulations to every contest entrant, everyone got at least one right. Thanks for playing, and you can look forward another contest with real prizes if we hit my 10,000 hit milestone by my arbitrary deadline of August 1.

SpreeGoogs is about to switch into some MLB coverage, so if there’s anything you specifically want covered, let me know, because  I’m new to this too.
